Lubulini – Microprojects formally opened the first step of freshly constructed bridges in Lubulini.
While work is being completed and monitored, the bridge has already begun its work, providing a link to people’s mobility and transportation for community members, who have already started using it.
The goal of Microprojects’ first-stage opening is to expedite inhabitants’ access to services. During the monitoring time, it enables Microprojects’ contracted engineers to identify and correct abnormalities prior to complete handover.
Microprojects representative Ndumiso Dlamini explained the purpose of the phased opening, saying it helps the team collect feedback.
“We opened the bridges for community use so we can monitor how they perform and receive direct feedback,” Dlamini said. “If residents notice anything, whether it is a small crack or another concern, they can report it, and we will attend to it immediately. This stage is important because it helps us make sure the bridges are safe, strong, and ready for long-term use.”
Lubilini Member of Parliament (MP), who’s also the Minister of Economic Planning and Development, Dr Tambo Gina, is credited as the bridge construction’s proponent.
He said it improves infrastructure in rural communities. The construction also offered job opportunities, with some residents offering manpower and necessary skills. According to Dlamini, Microprojects values the involvement of the people and believes that community input helps improve the quality of rural development projects.
MP Gina applauded both the Microprojects for its professionalism and commitment and the people of Lubulini for their support of the project, saying their unity and participation show the spirit of true community development.
One of the residents said the bridge is more than just a structure but an improvement for easier movement, safer travel, and better access to clinics, schools, markets, and farms. Farmers believe the bridges will improve the transportation of produce and open opportunities for new farming activities.
The Bucopho of the area said the bridges are already making a difference.
“This first-stage opening shows progress we can already benefit from. We thank Microprojects and our MP for making sure community voices matter and for attending to the cries of the people. Residents were always available to help, and today we are seeing the results of that hard work,” he said.
A community elder, who is also part of the development committee, said the bridges bring hope to many families.
“Our children struggled to cross the river during floods when going to school. That is now in the past because of Microprojects. The development we have been waiting for is finally here,” he said. He added that the community is planning to open sugarcane fields near the bridge, and transporting the sugarcane will now be much easier.
