Manzini – Minister of Education and Training, Owen Nxumalo, has congratulated the 127 students who graduated from William Pitcher College on Thursday describing them as key players in shaping Eswatini’s future.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Nxumalo said education remained a powerful catalyst for national progress, stressing that the graduating teachers were more than professionals entering the classroom.
“You are not simple teachers, but nation-builders and architects of the country’s future. The minds you shape will define the destiny of Eswatini,” he said.
The minister also commended William Pitcher College for adopting the Competency-Based Education (CBE) approach, noting that it signalled a transformative shift in the country’s education system. He said CBE represented “more than a curriculum change, but a revolution in how the nation prepares its learners.”
“No longer do we settle for rote memorisation. Instead, we cultivate skills, values, and lifelong learning,” Nxumalo added.
He encouraged the new teachers to champion the vision behind CBE by inspiring learners to think critically, solve problems and apply knowledge meaningfully in their daily lives.
