Johannesburg – The highly anticipated and widely debated year-end party hosted by controversial content creator Grace Mondlana has officially taken centre stage. Held on Saturday, the celebration saw the award-winning digital star honour both herself and South Africa’s vibrant community of content creators.
For weeks, Mondlana’s event dominated online chatter from the dramatic invitation rollout to the heated discussions surrounding the online auditions, right up to the speculation about the night’s surprises. Mondlana who has over 2 million followers and over 130 million likes on TikTok has long mastered the art of remaining a constant talking point, whether for praise, criticism, or sheer intrigue.
Once videos from attendees surfaced over the weekend, those who missed the event were hit with major FOMO. Guests fully committed to the “stunning shades of green” theme, showing up in bold, creative interpretations that transformed the venue into a runway of emerald hues.
The DStv Content Creators Awards winner, Mondlana, delivered three standout outfit changes. Her first look was a striking emerald gown with an open slit and a flowing trail. She later switched to an off-the-shoulder brown dress featuring rose details at the hips and a floor-length fringe skirt. For her final appearance, she kept things elegant and minimal with a short Xhosa dress.
Fans at home were not left out. Mondlana streamed the festivities live on YouTube and worked with a dedicated content team to capture and upload moments in real time.
The guest list was star-studded, with nearly every major influencer in attendance Dominic Zaca, Atlegang Songo (Tashnika), Lindokuhle Khoza, Tirelo Kale, Hlomani Nketani, Coachella Randy, and several others. Performances by Cooper, Chicco, Njelic, Mlindo The Vocalist, Thatohatsi, and Tracy kept the energy high throughout the night.
Although Mondlana faced online criticism, with some accusing her of treating her guests like fans, many attendees defended her, stating that they genuinely enjoyed the experience.
