NKHABA – The Nkhaba Chiefdom has launched its Chiefdom Development Plan (CDP), a long-term framework designed to guide sustainable growth and improve livelihoods for local residents.
The plan was formally presented to Prince Mnisi during a ceremony attended by government officials, with Zwakele Dlamini representing the Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development.
The CDP was developed through a partnership involving several government ministries and the Eswatini National Trust Commission. It sets out a roadmap for environmental protection, inclusive economic development, and improved access to basic services across the chiefdom.
Prince Mnisi said the initiative aims to position Nkhaba as a leader in green development and community resilience, calling on residents to unite in pursuit of shared progress. He said the plan promotes gender equity and inclusiveness, ensuring that women and young people are actively involved in shaping the community’s future.
Situated in one of Eswatini’s most ecologically rich regions, Nkhaba is home to the Malolotja Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the source of the Mbuluzi River. The area is known for its biodiversity, ancient Bushmen rock art, and growing tourism potential.
Prince Mnisi noted that while tourism continues to expand, the CDP will ensure that local communities benefit fairly from economic opportunities.
Among the key priorities outlined in the plan are access to clean water, preservation of natural resources, creation of youth employment, and the promotion of gender equality. The initiative also focuses on infrastructure development and sustainable management of land and environmental assets.
Community Development Committee Chairperson Nompumelelo Masuku said the plan was shaped through widespread consultations involving traditional authorities, women’s groups, and youth representatives, making it a reflection of the community’s shared aspirations.
