Goa, India – Preparations are underway for the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), one of Asia’s most prestigious film events, set to run from 20 to 28 November 2025. The festival, which has been held annually since 1975, continues to serve as a key meeting point for filmmakers, producers, and cinema lovers from across the world.
Organised by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in partnership with the Government of Goa, the festival is recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations (FIAPF).
The 56th edition will screen a diverse range of films in competition and non-competition categories, including international features, documentaries, curated tributes, and animated works. Festival activities will also include masterclasses, workshops, and interactive sessions with global industry professionals.
The Indian Panorama section will spotlight the country’s best cinematic works, while the Film Bazaar, regarded as South Asia’s largest film market, will run from 20 to 24 November. It aims to connect content creators with global distributors and investors.
Prestigious honours will be conferred during the event, including the Golden Peacock Award for Best Film, carrying a cash prize of Rs 40 lakh to be shared between the director and producer. Other key awards include the Silver Peacock for Best Director, Best Actor (Male and Female), Best Debut Director, and the Special Jury Award.
The Satyajit Ray Excellence in Cinema Award, named after the legendary Indian filmmaker, will recognise a veteran film personality for outstanding contribution to world cinema. The Indian Film Personality of the Year Award will also honour a leading figure from India’s film industry.
IFFI’s organisers expect to attract entries from across continents, with past editions drawing submissions from over 100 countries. The festival will again provide a platform to celebrate cultural diversity and cinematic innovation, bringing together creators and audiences who share a passion for film artistry.
