MBABANE – Local Gospel music sensation, Nothando Hlophe’s Methodist Medley track has surpassed a million views on YouTube.
The track is from the A New Dawn album which was live recorded at Mavuso Trade Centre. The YouTube channel reflects that the song picked up its spot in three months after it was uploaded. While current trends show that Methodist Medley has reached 1 million views, the rapid rise of this song shows Hlophe has a strong fan base. The track has been shared in other platforms from the time she announced the song’s availability on digital platforms.
Apart from the Methodist Medley admiration, Sithumela Wena, from the same album, was the previously most streamed on YouTube before it was overtaken at 390 000 views. Babheka Kuye Medley which was released on October 20 has so far reached above 78 000 views.
Social media posts show people using the sound globally, extending her the international reach. Her songs have been featured on TikTok challenges. On her Facebook page, some declare that the song has become their anthem.
Hlophe has publicly reacted. On her Facebook page, she expressed her excitement. She said, “100 000 YouTube views ago, I was saying thank you for watching, sharing and viewing! With this mark, ‘Methodist Medley’ has reached 100 000 views on YouTube. Let’s keep spreading the message. ‘The Dawn’ is here.”
