Mbabane – Long-term Eswatini Sugar (ES) client, ED & F Man Sugar, has invested E281,377 in renovating three classrooms at Dlalisile Primary School, located at Hlane, in the Lubombo Region.
The newly refurbished classrooms were officially handed over by ED & F Man Sugar Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Polok, to school principal Maria Simelane during a ceremony attended by ES Chief Executive Officer Banele Nyamane, ES management, school committee and community elder Samuel Magagula.
Magagula, speaking on behalf of the community expressed deep appreciation to both ES and ED & F Man Sugar for what he described as a “timely and much-needed intervention.” “The classrooms were in bad shape, paint worn out and the floors were riddled with cracks. Our female teachers had even stopped wearing high heels because they feared spraining their ankles,” he said with a touch of humour, adding that the renovations have brought excitement to both teachers and learners.
Principal Simelane echoed the gratitude, saying the donation has transformed the learning conditions for the pupils. “Before the renovations, our classrooms had uneven floors and faded paint. Today, they look beautiful. We are truly grateful,” she said.
She further appealed for continued support, noting that other classrooms at the school also need refurbishment.
ES’s CEO, Nyamane, commended ED & F Man Sugar for their community spirit, noting that the company was one of ES’s oldest partners and the first client to directly give back to the community. “We encourage the school to take good care of these facilities so that they serve the pupils for many years,” he said.
