Maseru, 20 October 2025 – The World Health Organization Representative in Lesotho, Dr. Innocent Bright Nuwagira, joined the Maseru District Health Management Team (DHMT) yesterday to monitor the launch of the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign across the country, which officially begins today.
Dr. Nuwagira, accompanied by the Head of Family Health, Dr. Mamotena Sekhobe, and the Expanded Programme for Immunization Manager at the Ministry of Health, Ms. Tsepiso Mechele, attended a DHMT briefing where he urged the team to reach every eligible child, including those previously missed.

The team, led by Maseru District Medical Officer Dr. Tilo Namane, visited vaccination points at Lorreto Clinic, Qoaling Filter Clinic, Mphohali Pre-School, and City of Joy Pre-School. Dr. Nuwagira interacted with parents, caregivers, and frontline health workers, thanking them for their efforts and encouraging continued community mobilization to ensure all children benefit from the campaign.
Maseru accounts for nearly 40 percent of Lesotho’s child population, making its success crucial to nationwide protection against measles and rubella. The campaign is supported by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and other strategic health partners.
