MBABANE — Bonkhe Shabangu from kaNcesi has appealed to the public to make donations directly to his family after a fundraising campaign organized by influencer and philanthropist Sifiso “IllaPenboy” Ndlangamandla failed to deliver meaningful support.
Shabangu’s three-bedroom house, valued at E500,000, was demolished on 22 August by a Tractor Loader Backhoe (TLB) following claims that it had been built on someone else’s farm. Ndlangamandla had launched a campaign to help the family rebuild on an alternative piece of land provided by Umphatsi.
Despite claims that significant contributions had been raised — including 45 bags of cement, solar floodlights worth E5,000, 1,000 bricks, E3,700 in cash from 20 donors, and two loads of crushed stones — Shabangu said only E1,030 in cash actually reached the family. Ndlangamandla later clarified that the E1,030 was the only donation received, denying any misappropriation of funds.
Shabangu, currently staying with a neighbour with his entire family, urged members of the public to contribute directly to ensure transparency and that aid reaches them. He can be reached on 7650 0722 or 7960 1753.
