Mbabane – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has warned citizens against engaging in acts of public indecency, cautioning that anyone found committing such offences will face arrest and possible jail time.
The warning follows a viral Facebook video showing two men bathing naked along a public road between St Philips and the Mhlathuze River on Saturday. The video was recorded and posted by local content creator Siphosakhe Banele Ndoni, who said he came across the men at around midday. According to Ndoni, the men appeared unbothered by passing vehicles and continued bathing in full view of the public.
The footage quickly drew public attention, with some social media users speculating that the act might have been part of a ritual. However, there were no further reports about the men after the video circulated, and their identities have not been established.
Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer, Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni, said no formal complaints had been received by the police regarding the incident. She explained that with the nearest police stations located in Siphofaneni and Big Bend, the location of the incident falls under the Lubombo region, yet no reports had been made through the stations or the police toll-free line.
Mnguni urged the public to refrain from engaging in indecent behaviour and reminded citizens that such acts are criminal offences.
“Indecent acts amount to a crime and anyone caught committing such acts is liable to being charged,” she said.
