Mbabane: As light showers swept pass Mbabane in this ice cold weather, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) rained E2 275 000 to its eight members to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 threat.

As expected, Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) got the biggest chunk, E700 000 with the four regional football associations, Hhohho, Manzini, Lubombo and Shiselweni sharing equally E1.2 million. This means that each regional association has banked E300 000.

The other members, Women Football Association, Eswatini Coaches Association and Eswatini Referees Association will get E125 000 each.

Despite the immediate disbursement of these funds, worth noting is that EFA is still waiting for FIFA’s Covid-19 Relief Fund announced by the world football governing body president Gianni Infantino worth over E9 million.

“This particular money comes from EFA coffers,” Mngomezulu highlighted as he added that member associations will receive financial governance regulations on how the funds will be utilized.
