St. Philips—Two men were seen naked in a video clip bathing in the middle of the St. Philips public road near the Mhlathuze River on Saturday, in what is suspected to be a ritual.
The two men, posted on Facebook, seem unbothered by bypassing transport. Despite being recorded for over 50 seconds, they continue to share their dips in a 20-liter bucket, splashing themselves with water while standing in the broken white centre line of the road.
Content creator Siphosakhe Banele Ndoni, who took the video, confirmed being the owner of the clip. He said he was on his way to watch a football match when he saw the two men.
He momentarily stopped the van he was driving, destined for Maliyaduma Stadium with passengers on board. The time, he said, was around 12:00 noon. He stopped and filmed, but the two men showed no signs of care. The weather is cloudy.
“I also think it was a ritual. While I was not particularly scared, I was shocked by this. When approaching, I wasn’t sure what it was. It became clear that these were people, and they were men, facing each other. We could not identify them. We suspect they are not from the area,” he said.
Since posting over 24 hours ago, the post has gone viral with over 41 000 views and hundreds of comments, with users saying the men were performing a ritual.
Siyabonga Mdunge commented, “Haibo guy’s, what form of witchcraft is this?” Another said,” [These are] rituals or instructions from [a] witchdoctor.”
