New York – The Kingdom of Eswatini is exploring new avenues to strengthen its digital economy through a potential partnership with global technology firm Google Cloud. On 23 September 2025, Minister of Information, Communications and Technology, Savannah Maziya, met with Karan Bhatia, Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google Cloud, in New York on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
The discussions focused on how frontier technologies can accelerate Eswatini’s digital transformation. Key areas under consideration include the establishment of a National Digital Addressing System, implementation of Public Key Infrastructure, and development of e-government solutions to modernize public services.
The partnership could also introduce Google Workspace across government departments to enhance efficiency, security, transparency, and accessibility for citizens. Artificial intelligence and machine learning were discussed as tools to enable smarter, data-driven decision-making. In addition, cloud computing and cybersecurity solutions are being explored to strengthen the country’s digital resilience. Emerging technologies and e-learning platforms are also on the table to build digital skills among Eswatini’s workforce.
The Ministry of ICT described the engagement with Google Cloud as a significant step toward positioning Eswatini as a leader in Africa’s digital transformation and expanding the Kingdom’s capabilities in technology-driven governance.
