Matsapha – Nsingizini Hotspurs claimed a 1-0 victory over Mbabane Highlanders at the Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon, ending a goalless first half with Joel Madondo scoring the only goal in the 68th minute.
The match, part of the MTN Premier League, saw Hotspurs take control after halftime, with Madondo finishing a precise attack to put his team ahead. Highlanders made two substitutions at the break, bringing on Linda Nkambule for Giggs Ndlovu and Sphiwe Cele for Siyabonga Mkhonto, but were unable to find an equaliser.
Hotspurs fielded a strong lineup including Jordyn Vermaak, Mncedisi Dlamini, and Nkosingphile Shongwe, while Highlanders relied on key players such as Ndumiso Dlamini, Siboniso Shiba, and Vusumuzi Vilakati. Both teams created opportunities, but Hotspurs’ organisation and sharp finishing proved decisive.
Highlanders coach Ernest Mavuso described the result as a tough start to the new season, noting that the team would regroup and focus on upcoming fixtures. The loss leaves Highlanders looking to bounce back in the next MTN Premier League match, while Nsingizini Hotspurs will aim to build on their momentum.
Kick-off for the match was at 15:00 on Saturday, 4 October 2025, at the Mavuso Sports Centre in Matsapha.
