Hlathikhulu – Prince Magele of the Magele Chiefdom has issued a fervent call to investors, urging them to inject capital into the area to foster development, create employment, and stimulate economic growth. The chief emphasized that these investment opportunities are crucial for bringing much-needed jobs to the community.
Magele, a rapidly developing area situated near Hlatikhulu in the Shiselweni region, is actively seeking developers, businesspeople, and entrepreneurs. Speaking to Independent News, Prince Magele articulated the community’s readiness to embrace partnerships that will contribute to local advancement.
“We are inviting investors to come and build structures and start businesses in Magele,” stated the chief. “This will not only create job opportunities for the people of Magele but also support the overall economic growth of our area. These investments will bring vital employment to our community.”
In a significant move towards this vision, Chief Magele confirmed that plans are already in motion for the construction of a petrol station at Esakeni Junction. The investor for this project has been formally introduced to the community and has completed the traditional kubopha lifindvo ceremony, a customary rite signifying permission for occupation and development of land within the chiefdom.
This petrol station is anticipated to serve motorists on the busy MR9, also known as the Yithi Abantu Highway, and local residents. It is expected to generate employment during both its construction and operational phases.
Furthermore, Prince Magele disclosed ongoing discussions with a prominent franchise supermarket chain interested in establishing a branch in the area. While these talks are in preliminary stages, with the potential investor conducting a feasibility study, the chief remains optimistic.
“We are optimistic, but we understand that investors need to do their due diligence. We are giving them space to finalise the assessment,” he remarked. The establishment of a supermarket would be a pivotal step in Magele’s commercial evolution, enhancing access to goods and services and bolstering the local economy.
Prince Magele further assured potential investors of the area’s abundant resources, particularly its human capital. “We have ample land and human capital. These are critical resources for any investor looking to build and expand,” he said, specifically highlighting the youth. “The area is rich with human capital, mostly the youth, and a majority of them possess tertiary qualifications, making them a valuable asset for any new enterprise.”
He reiterated that traditional authorities in Magele are prepared to collaborate with legitimate investors who respect local customs and adhere to proper community engagement and land use protocols.
Local residents have expressed strong support for the chief’s development-focused approach. “We are happy that the chief is thinking about development. Our young people need jobs, and the community needs services,” commented one resident. “If these projects come to life, they will change Magele for the better.”
