Mbabane: A soldier based at the Garrison Barracks in Matsapha has reported that his wife has disappeared without trace purportedly with his lover. Bhekitfwala Tfwala said his wife’s lover is known to him but neither can he trace his whereabouts.

She has deleted her old number and her new number is unknown.

Tfwala (53) said subsequent to his wife’s disappearance their relationship was sour and they did not agree on many things. They argued most of the times and he almost came close to manhandling her, said Tfwala.

Tfwala said his wife left her matrimonial homestead at Engudzeni in February this year and has never returned home, neither has he called, to get an update on their 19 year daughter who is wheelchair bound. Their daughter was involved in serious car accident in April 26 this year, which left her paralysed from the waist down, as well as suffered a head fracture, leaving her with speech impediment.

Tfwala mentioned that the matter of his wife’s disappearance has been reported to the police at Sigodvweni under missing persons, but to this date she has not been found.

Tfwala said he has resigned himself to the belief that his wife left with her lover and will not have anything to do with their crippled daughter. Their daughter, *Fikile, receives care from the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVAF) who gives disposable diapers as well as assists in trips to the physio in Manzini.

Furthermore, what irks the army officer is that his wife left with records related to the car accident, which includes receipts of payments he made at Mphilo Private Clinic where their daughter was treated. “My wife also left with the police report obtained at Mafutseni Police Station and some MVAF documents,” said Tfwala, who added that above all he needed the receipts, which would enable him to be reimbursed by the MVAF. Tfwala said he paid more than E30 000 for the treatment of his daughter at the clinic, which required E4000 per visit.

Tfwala’s brother in law, Bheki Bail, said as a family they were in the dark on the whereabouts of their sister, who left after she reported about irreconcilable differences with her husband. “She had been talking to us about unending conflicts in her household, asking us to intervene and bring about a solution,” said Bail. Bail said they hadn’t as yet reported the matter of their missing sister to the police but rested hopes that she would return to her matrimonial home.

Adulterous affairs

The disappearance of the soldier’s wife comes at the height of adulterous affairs by the armed forces officers’ wives, which more often than not have ended violently. The latest to be reported is that of Matsapha Police Academy’s police constable, Malangeni Dlamini (47) who last week shot dead his wife, Dumile Dlamini (48). Dumile had been working under the Royal Guard wing. In December, 2018, another police constable, Sibusiso Shongwe, based in Hlathikulu Police Station killed his girlfriend, Lindo Magagula allegedly by strangulation; all in suspicion that she been involved in an extra affair.
