Lobamba, Eswatini – Countries around the world have wished King Mswati III, the government and the people of the Kingdom of Eswatini well as the country celebrates its 57th national Independence Day.
Eswatini, formerly Swaziland, gained full independence as the British protectorate on September 6, 1968. After the Second Boer War, Eswatini was a British High Commission territory from 1903 until 1968.
Such messages came from the Commonwealth, an association of 56 independent countries with ties to the former British empire; Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Canada and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini said in the past 57 years, Eswatini has been developing itself by building roads, hospitals, schools, infrastructure and providing access to clean water, among other sectors which were not there when the country gained independence.

“We thank His Majesty King Mswati III for spearheading development, peace and wellbeing in Eswatini. We also thank the Queen Mother for bringing supporting programmes such as protection and promotion of children and women. We also thank the people of Eswatini for preserving their heritage, culture and peace. On behalf of His Majesty’s government, His Majesty King Mswati III, Indlovukazi and the people of Eswatini a happy national independence day,” he said.
