The businessman, who had no spouse or children, admired Neymar, particularly the footballer’s close relationship with his father, which reminded him of his own bond with his late father. Local media report that the billionaire’s estate, valued at an undisclosed amount, is under review by Brazilian courts before it can be officially transferred.
Authorities are verifying Neymar’s acceptance of the inheritance and any legal requirements needed to execute the will. Neymar, already one of the world’s wealthiest athletes with an estimated net worth of over 6.2 billion reais (around R20 billion), is expected to grow his fortune further through this unexpected legacy.
