Mbabane: Twenty five pushups for 25 days meant for a good course.
The 40 years old Mbabane Swallows speedy winger Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko is challenging fellow Premier League players to do 25 pushups for 25 days in a mental health awareness exercise. ‘Samba Jive’ who starred for South Africa’s Black Leopards in the early 2000s was invited by James Mayinga to support a just course for people with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
James Mayinga is a South African retired left back who played for the likes of Moroka Swallows, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits.
After completing kick starting the challenge, ‘Samba Jive’ called upon fellow Premier League stars to take it on. The pushups challenge is trending on social media site Facebook with Manzini Wanderers duo of Sicelo ‘Junior’ Simelane and Mpendulo ‘Navigator’ Ngidi, Nhlanhla Gwebu of Young Buffaloes, Royal Leopard’s Muzi ‘Mzoro’ Dlamini and Mbabane Highlanders’ Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule and Peter Dlamini among the stars to take it.
It seems the players are rightfully using the challenge to stay in shape for the currently Coronavirus halted football season.
The rules are simple, once a player is nominated, his 25 days starts the following day. Everyday the player records himself doing 25 pushups and then nominate a different person.
“Let’s reach as many people as possible. Let’s hope by doing this we can create awareness for anyone who is suffering from a mental illness, you are not alone and we are here for you,” Samba Jive said in a message.
