Mbabane: The Attorney General (AG), Sifiso Khumalo, has distanced himself from the matter involving the former EBC officers who were not paid their ex-gratia. Khumalo said he is neither aware of the matter nor was it reported to him.

However, Communication Officer in the Ministry of Finance, Setsabile Dlamini had told this publication that the matter was under discussion by the relevant government departments including the AG’s office.

Dlamini told this publication that in due time, the ministry would issue out a comprehensive report.

According to an informed source, over 10 former EBC officers including former Chairman, Chief Gija, were not paid their ex-gratia after serving in the committee for 11 years.

The main concern raised by the officers is that some were paid while some were not, despite being reappointed to other positions at the same time.

One such person who received his ex-gratia is former deputy commissioner, Ncumbi Maziya, who allegedly received his money after re-appointment.
