Ezulwini – The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) has engaged more than 5,000 businesses through its Bafundzise Campaign, an outreach programme aimed at improving tax compliance and strengthening ties with enterprises across the country.
Launched in March 2025, the campaign targets both registered and unregistered businesses, including small, micro, and medium enterprises, as well as employers. After successful visits to Manzini, Matsapha, Mbabane, Ezulwini, and Nhlangano, the campaign will extend to businesses in Siteki starting 28 August 2025.
ERS Commissioner General Brightwell Nkambule met with the Ministry of Tinkhundla on 13 August to coordinate efforts for reaching rural businesses. Regional Administrators will work with Chiefdoms to explain the campaign’s purpose and support local engagement.
Since its launch, the campaign has recorded the following outreach: Manzini – 1,777 businesses with 69.4 percent holding Tax Identification Numbers; Matsapha – 931 businesses with 88.9 percent compliance; Mbabane – 1,667 businesses at 72.1 percent; Ezulwini – 229 businesses with 89 percent compliance; and Nhlangano – 522 businesses at 73.8 percent. Over 300 clients have also completed onsite TIN registration.
The programme provides one-on-one consultations and sessions on topics such as Presumptive Tax for small businesses, Corporate Income Tax, PAYE, TIN registration, and use of the TaxEase digital platform. Businesses behind on tax obligations are encouraged to use the Sondzela Sikhulume solution for debt management assistance.
ERS Director of Communications and Marketing Ntobeko Dlamini said the campaign helps businesses understand their tax responsibilities while simplifying compliance and promoting growth. Feedback from participants, particularly SMMEs, has been positive, with many appreciating the door-to-door approach.
