Mbabane: The government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has announced five (5) more types of business to open.
This was announced by the Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini in a press conference held at the cabinet offices on Friday afternoon.
The business has been opened under strict conditions as no consumption of alcohol on or around the premises, and no gathering at the car washes. Each business has been allocated lastly outlined strict regulations to follow.
The Prime Minister said this was in line with easing the partial lockdown to gradually open the economy.
Making the announcement the Premier said “His Majesty’s government has decided to allow more businesses to operate under strict health conditions”.
Dlamini said these businesses will have to apply for approval to operate through the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Trade. He said the ministry will assess the readiness of the businesses before issuing permits.
The businesses are:
1. Car wash businesses
2. Car dealership
3. Cellphone shops
4. Shoe repairs
5. Laundry and dry clean services
All these businesses have been given strict conditions. The Premier emphasized that failure to adhere to the regulations government will not hesitate to close the business.
The businesses are expected to open from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The Premier said the businesses must carry out a COVID-19 risk assessment before operations, provide sanitization facilities for workers and clients.
“To train all staff on COVID 19, Provide screening for all workers and customers, use of masks on all workers and clients, to maintain social distance between workers and clients of 1.5 meters”.
The regulations calls for compulsory use of masks for both customers and employees.
The Premier issued a strong warning especially on car wash businesses, as they are expected to develop cleaning and hand washing hygiene procedures and ensure adherence by all workers and clients.
“Provide screening services for workers and clients. Use of mask by workers and clients at all times, all staff member s are to be trained on COVID-19, sanitization of vehicles after they have been handled and no consumption of alcohol on or around the premises.” It also states that they should be no gathering at the car washes.
The Premier said depending on the assessment on the ground government will considerer opening other businesses.
The Premier continued to advise all emaSwati that despite easing of the partial lockdown they should adhere to lockdown regulations. He said the public must also stop unnecessary travels to prevent the spread of the virus.
He also advised emaSwati to adhere to the Ministry of Health and World Health Organization by washing hands regularly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer. The wearing of mask in public places and to avoid handshakes but rather use non touch methods.
The Premiers thanked all health workers security forces and other essential service workers who are working hard to help the nation in the fight of COVID-19.
