Mbabane – The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) joined the Eswatini Tourism Authority to mark the inaugural Tourism Nkwe Event, held from 20 to 22 August 2025, aimed at boosting regional collaboration and dialogue within the tourism sector.
BTO was represented by Grading Manager Joyce Morontshe, who said the visit supports the strategic partnership between Eswatini and Botswana, ahead of a planned Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed before the end of the year.
The engagements began with the Tourism Nkwe Golf Day at Ezulwini Golf and Country Club, inaugurated by Eswatini’s Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Honourable Jane Mkhonta. This was followed by the Tourism Nkwe Conference, officially opened by Prime Minister Russell Dlamini.
The conference brought together tourism leaders, operators, financial sponsors, and representatives from Botswana, South Africa, and Côte d’Ivoire. Discussions focused on tourism infrastructure, visa facilitation, ease of doing business, and sustainability.
For Botswana, the event offered first-hand insights into Eswatini’s tourism priorities and challenges, strengthening the foundation for regional collaboration. The upcoming MoU will formalize the partnership and aim to foster shared growth across the Southern African tourism landscape.
