KWALUSENI – Students at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) will now have access to cheaper internet after Eswatini Mobile unveiled a new Tertiary Student Bundle at the Kwaluseni campus.
The package, developed in partnership with the UNESWA Student Representative Council (SRC), offers 20GB of data for E150, valid for 30 days. The initiative is aimed at easing students’ access to online learning resources and supporting blended education.
Eswatini Mobile Chief Information Officer Genius Sihlongonyane said the idea came after consultations with the university’s leadership and the SRC, who raised concerns about the high cost of data for students.
“We went back to the drawing board to design something relevant and affordable for students. Education requires connectivity, and this package is meant to ensure students have reliable access to the internet,” Sihlongonyane said.
UNESWA Vice Chancellor Professor Justice Thwala welcomed the launch, describing it as a timely response to the financial pressures facing students. He said the bundle would ease challenges linked to research, communication and online classes.
“This package provides critical support for our students. It makes a difference in their academic lives and ensures that they are not left behind as the world embraces blended learning,” Thwala said.
He added that the university had always pushed for interventions that bridge the gap between limited student finances and the demands of higher education.
Eswatini Mobile confirmed that discussions are underway to extend the bundle to other tertiary institutions, ensuring that students across the country benefit from the initiative.
