Mbabane: Zambia-born strategist Texan Phiri has passed on.

The coach succumbed to an unknown illness this morning in his home country, Zambia. Phiri spent about a decade in the kingdom and coached Royal Leopard, Tambuti, Young Buffaloes and Malanti Chiefs among other sides.

“It is true that Phiri is gone to be with his maker. As the football fraternity, specifically as coaches we are saddened by the passing of our colleague,” said a coach who confirmed on condition of anonymity as the Phiri family is yet to release an official statement.

Phiri left Eswatini over a year ago for a job in Botswana before returning to his native Zambia where he met his untimely demise.
