MBIKWAKHE, KWALUSENI – Holyghost Palace Ministries International officially opened its permanent headquarters in Mbikwakhe, Kwaluseni, yesterday, bringing a new faith-based presence to a community long affected by crime and social challenges.
The church was founded by Apostles Gabriel Hlophe and Portia Hlophe. Central Bank Governor Pastor Phil Mnisi and Apostle Trevor Shezi from Durban, South Africa, attended the dedication ceremony, offering guidance and encouragement to the young church leader and his congregation.
Bucopho Sabelo Dlamini, representing Mbikwakhe traditional authorities, described the church’s arrival as timely. He said it has begun attracting youth away from drugs, alcohol, and criminal activities, and urged the church to continue reaching out to the elderly, orphans, and physically impaired residents. Authorities have even allowed the church to use a tent at the Royal Kraal for prayer and worship.
Apostle Hlophe explained that the church was founded with the community’s needs in mind. He said the church prioritises the elderly and youth, with plans to open a preschool and programmes to engage out-of-school young people. A community kitchen is also planned to tackle hunger, which Hlophe identified as a factor contributing to crime.
The new headquarters, valued at approximately E800 000 and able to host 600 congregants, represents years of perseverance. Hlophe recalled moving six times due to rising rents and even holding the first service in his brother’s spaza shop. He shared that he received the vision for the church in 2001, formally launching it under its current name in 2016 with the support of his wife Portia.
