Mbabane – A 32-year-old man from Makholokholo, Sibulelo ‘Sbu J’ Jele, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Fisokuhle Dlamini, in a violent attack that is said to have involved punches, open- handed slaps, and repeated kicks to her body.
Jele who turned up in court today faces charges under Section 77 of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act of 2018.
The alleged assault reportedly left the complainant severely injured in the face and arms leaving her traumatised. Pictures were circulated in social media earlier of the related incident before the charge was laid. The Law Society of Eswatini issued a press release on Tuesday saying Jele was not their member, “not an attorney nor an articled clerk.”
The court has set the trial date for 18 October 2025. Jele has been remanded out of custody while awaiting trial but must comply with strict conditions. These conditions include, he must not commit a similar offence before the trial, he must not act violently towards the complainant, he must not persuade the complainant to settle the matter out of court, nor ask anyone else to do so on his behalf and he must attend all court proceedings when summoned.
The case will resume later this year, where the court will hear the full details of the incident and determine Jele’s fate.
