Mbabane: Football Chief Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa reaffirmed EFA’s eagerly awaited Annual General Meeting will go on as planned amid Covid-19 regulations of having 20 or less people gather at the same time.
The Eswatini Football Association president said if it called for their eight members to be represented by one man, preferably their respective chairpersons at the AGM that will be the case. EFA will host its AGM on June 28, 2020 in what promises to be one of the interesting meetings since the electoral General Assembly of 2017, given the many football matters currently on the table.
EFA has eight members; the Premier League of Eswatini, Woman Football Association, Eswatini Football Coaches Association, Eswatini Referees Association, Hhohho Regional Football Association, Lubombo Regional Football Association, Shiselweni Regional Football Association and Manzini Regional Football Association in no particular order.
Given the president proclamation, the numbers at the AGM can shoot to around 15 people, observing the country’s coronavirus regulations when adding him as president, two of his three vices, Comfort Shongwe and Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane along with the association’s Chief Executive Officer Frederick Mngomezulu. By virtue of being PLE chairman, Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula is one of the three EFA vice presidents.
“Two circulars were issued to our members, the first one notifying them of the date of the AGM as per our statues and the second, suspending all football activities, guided by government due to the spread of Covid-19. Definitely the AGM will continue as planned, even if it calls for our members to have one representation at the meeting,” Mthethwa said.
Next week, May 28 will be the deadline for members to submit their proposals and among others as reported, is the one to slash premier league clubs to 12 from the current 14 and then have 16 in the feeder National First Division.
