MBABANE – The Kingdom of Eswatini’s Judiciary has begun intensive training for registrars, deputy registrars and clerks to strengthen their ability to implement the 2023 Supreme Court Rules, which integrate digital technology into court processes.
The two-day workshop, held on Friday and Saturday, focused on clarifying the roles of registrars, outlining appeals procedures, addressing sentencing in criminal appeals, and improving customer care skills.
Supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Strengthening Rule of Law Project, the training was funded through UNDP’s core resources. The opening session was officiated by UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Nessie Golakai-Gould, High Court Judge Justice Jacobus Annandale, and High Court Registrar Nosipho Mazibuko.
Golakai-Gould commended the Judiciary for addressing skills gaps and acknowledged the vital role of court clerks and assistant registrars in ensuring the justice system functions effectively. Justice Annandale encouraged participants to seek guidance whenever needed, while Mazibuko stressed the importance of understanding the practical application of the new rules.
