Pigg’s Peak: Government’s COVID-19 regulations to have 20 or less people gather at the same time has seen the eagerly awaiting PLE Board of Governors meeting postponed.
Premier League teams’ bosses were expected to gather tonight (05/20/2020) to deliberate on critical football matters around coronavirus and the upcoming Eswatini Football Association (EFA) General Assembly next month.
Team bosses among other things were expected to strategize on how to resume or not the current 2019/20 season and draft proposals for the EFA General Assembly. Already, EFA president Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa has revealed a proposal to slash premier league clubs from 14 to 12 with 16 in the National First Division will be deliberated at the assembly.
Amid the menacing Covid-19 pandemic, government has introduced strict regulations in respect of the number of people allowed to gather at the same time. Actually, only 20 people can be together at the same time as the fight against coronavirus, a disease that threatens humanity continues.
Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Operations Officer Pat Vilakati confirmed the sudden postponement as they continue to access other avenues of meeting like technology.
The PLE has 26 Board of Governors and the number can shoot to 30 with PLE staffers included in the equation.
