Hire CEO – EFA tells PLE

Mbabane: Football mother body EFA has instructed its major affiliate, the Premier League of Eswatini to hire a full-time Chief Executive Officer.

This was revealed by Eswatini Football Association (EFA) president Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa as he reaffirmed football position in the country. As EFA’s commercial wing, Mthethwa said they have advised the PLE to hire an independent CEO to take care of their sponsors and run the organization without interference.

The PLE is one of EFA’s eight members, among others the Women Football Association, Referees Association and Manzini Regional Football Association.

Mthethwa as he gunned for a return as chief of football back in 2005, he ensured the PLE gets office space at EFA’s Sigwaca House. “The idea was that the money the PLE would have used to rent offices was to be diverted to wages of that full time CEO. The idea is to have someone who will take care of the PLE day-to-day operations, protect and market the PLE brand and deal with sponsors. That is actually the case with every organization,” he said.

Mthethwa continued that the General Assembly suggested that all their members hire full time secretaries (CEOs). “We actually gave the PLE a draft structure to address commercial matters but the turnaround time is always an issue,” he added.
