Malkerns – Festivalgoers heading to the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival this weekend should brace for an unusually chilly atmosphere, with temperatures expected to dip across the country due to a sudden cold front.
The Eswatini Meteorological Service has forecast low temperatures and windy conditions across the eastern parts of the country, coinciding with the much-anticipated celebration of music, food, fashion, and culture taking place at House on Fire in Malkerns.
Today’s forecast points to partly cloudy conditions with cold and breezy weather across the Highveld. Saturday is expected to bring morning frost before giving way to sunny but still chilly conditions, particularly in higher altitudes. By Sunday, festivalgoers may wake up to fog in some areas, though the day will remain partly cloudy and mild in most regions, warming slightly in the Lowveld.
Organisers are taking steps to ensure the cold doesn’t dampen spirits. Heated tents and warming stations are being set up across the venue to help attendees stay comfortable throughout the two-day celebration.
Guests are advised to dress in warm layers and prepare for fluctuating weather as they enjoy the live performances, culinary showcases, and vibrant cultural experiences that have made Luju one of the country’s signature events.
