MBABANE – The Eswatini Medical Christian University (EMCU) has suspended all face-to-face lectures with immediate effect, instructing students to vacate campus as the institution moves fully online.
The decision was taken during a Senate meeting held on Thursday, 24 July 2025, where it was agreed that physical learning would no longer continue until further notice. A formal notice, signed by the university’s registrar S. Menon, was circulated to all students, faculty heads, and the Students Representative Council (SRC).
The notice stated that students are expected to leave the Mbabane-based campus without delay and continue with their studies remotely. While no specific reason was given for the sudden change, the communication made it clear that online learning remains the official mode of instruction for now.
This is not the first time the university has turned to virtual platforms, but the latest development has stirred concern among students who were still relying on in-person engagement, especially those in clinical and practical programmes.
The university, located in Zone 4, Mbabane, did not indicate when physical classes might resume.
