WINDHOEK – Namibia and India formalised a series of bilateral agreements on Wednesday during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Windhoek. The signing ceremony was witnessed by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Prime Minister Modi.
Four key instruments were exchanged between the two nations. Namibia formally handed over the already-signed Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) Framework Agreement. The country also signed and presented the Global Biofuels Framework Agreement, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mines and Energy Natangwe Ithete representing Namibia.
Ithete also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, for the establishment of an Entrepreneurship Development Centre aimed at strengthening enterprise skills and job creation.
A separate health cooperation agreement was concluded between Namibia’s Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Esperance Luvindao, and Dr. Jaishankar. The MoU focuses on collaboration in the field of health and medicine.
