Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault of three women which reportedly took place between the years of 2021 and 2022.The Ghanaian national player denies these all charges being laid against him.
These allegations are related to three women who reported several incidents between the years of 2021 and 2022. Partey has been charged with two counts of rape for one woman. He faces three counts of rape from a second woman and one count of sexual assault from the third woman. He is set to appear at the Westminster magistrates court on the 5th of August 2025.
Partey, a resident of Hertfordshire, was charged four days after leaving his club, Arsenal, pending the end of his contract with the “gunners”. He spent half a decade at the club, playing 130 games with 9 goals under his belt. He came into the club in 2020, signing for a massive £45m, but is now in a state of free agency pending the expiration of his contract on Monday.
The 32-year-old Ghanaian’s first arrest was in July 2022, though he was allegedly not named at the time and continued to play for Arsenal while investigations remained ongoing.In a statement, his lawyer jenny Wiltshire of Hickman and Rose, said “Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooporated with the police throughout their three-year investigation.
He now welcomes the opportunity to fully clear his name. Given that there are ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.”Jaswant Narwel of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said “The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorized the prosecution of Thomas Partey for multiple counts of rape, after carefully reviewing a comprehensive file of evidence.
