Manzini – Hundreds of learners from all four regions of Eswatini converged at William Pitcher Teachers’ College on Friday for the 2025 National STEM Expo, a countrywide science and technology event aimed at preparing youth for future careers in innovation-driven industries.
The event was hosted by the Eswatini Science Mathematics and Technology Association (ESMTA) and supported by the Ministry of Education and Training. It drew over 700 students and 200 educators from more than 200 primary and secondary schools. The STEM Expo provided a platform for young minds to compete and collaborate across key subjects including Science, Mathematics, ICT, and Design and Technology.
Participants engaged in quizzes, problem-solving challenges, and presented over 100 working models and research projects. These included system development tools, web design, robotics, hydraulic machines, and mathematical innovations.
The expo was sponsored by Macmillan Education Eswatini, which has partnered with the education sector to strengthen science literacy and digital learning across schools. According to organisers, the expo aims to ignite learners’ interest in STEM fields while exposing them to possible career paths in areas like engineering, software development, and renewable energy.
Winners from this national showcase are expected to proceed to represent Eswatini at the upcoming BOLESWA International STEM Expo, which brings together students from Botswana, Lesotho, and South Africa.
