MBABANE – Moneni Pirates were the winners of the Gentleman’s Talk Legends Tournament after they scored a leading goal 1-0 against Mbabane Highlanders over the weekend.
The tournament delivered a tightly contested final.
It managed to gather Eswatini’s top traditional football giants, ending with Moneni Pirates lifting the trophy.
The team was credited for a strong and disciplined performance.
The lone goal separated the sides as Pirates displayed composure and tactical awareness to edge past the Highlanders.
The victory capped off an impressive run for the Manzini-based side, who had earlier defeated their arch-rivals Manzini Wanderers 1-0 in the semi-finals.
That match was a fierce showdown, with Pirates claiming bragging rights in one of the country’s most heated rivalries.
On the other side of the draw, Mbabane Highlanders booked their spot in the final after edging Mbabane Swallows 2-1 in an exciting clash. The Highlanders showed attacking intent and resilience to overcome the Swallows, setting up a mouth-watering final against the Pirates.
The tournament, aimed at celebrating football legends while promoting gentlemanly conduct in sport, drew large crowds and showcased football talent from the yesteryear’s stars.
