Taiwan offers medical assistance to fight Coronavirus in Eswatini

Mbabane: At the height of rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in Eswatini, the country has received medical assistance from Taiwan to fight the Coronavirus.

The kingdom of Eswatini has received four doctors and medical supplies from Taiwan to help in the fight against COVID-19.

The doctors and medical equipment consignment arrived in the country today and was officially welcomed by the Prime Minister of Eswatini Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini at the Royal Villas Ezulwini, in an event that was graced by the presence of the the Deputy Prime Minister, Themba Masuku, Taiwan Ambassador in Eswatini, Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi and the Minister of Foreign Afairs Thuli Dladla.

On behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III and government, Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini welcomed the consignment of medical supplies as well as four (4) doctors from the Republic of China in Taiwan to help in the fight against COVID-19.

Taiwan has always been a country that comes through for Eswatini in times of need.

The Kingdom of Eswatini and Taiwan has been in good relationship for the past 52 years and this has been a fruitful relationship as Taiwan has been offering both financial and medical assistance to the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Speaking at the Royal Villas when welcoming the consignment and the four medical staff, Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini said “We are proud of our strong bonds that have been solidified by His Majesty and President Tsai”.

Dlamini said the medical mission and assistance will go a long way in strengthening the capabilities of Eswatini health workers.

“The world should recognize that the health expertise of Taiwan has not only offered to Eswatini alone but to other countries as well. International organizations of authority in the health agenda should give Taiwan an ear in order to find critical answers to save humanity”

The medical supplies consignment include Personal Protective equipment (PPE) donated by Taiwan to be used by health workers in Eswatini.

Speaking on behalf of the Embassy of Taiwan in Eswatini, Ambassador Liang said the arrival of the doctors signifies a perfect relationship between the two countries. Eswatini is looking forward into seeing a great change from the arrival of the Taiwanese doctors as the country is currently in the fight against the pandemic that has infected over 100 emaSwati with only one who has died.
