Pigg’s Peak: National First Division side and former premier league outfit Umbelebele legend Ncamiso Sthutha Mavuso was among the 11 killed police officers.

Fifteen Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) under the Operation Support Service Unit (OSSU) were aboard the doomed kombi that caught fire after clashing with a truck along the Mhlaleni- Ngwane Park MR9 road in Manzini on Thursday. Eleven of those officers lost their lives after being trapped as the kombi burnt to ashes along the truck driver while four are battling for their lives at the nearby RFM Hospital.

Sthutha was a household name during his playing days, appearing for ‘Inkiliva’ as Umbelebele are affectionately called.

From the dusty Msunduza background, a densely populated location in Mbabane, Mavuso got a job as a police officer.
