SHISELWENI – Forty livestock farmers gathered on June 10 to take part in a new pig production training session led by Taiwan’s Technical Mission in Eswatini.
Held in the Shiselweni region, the event marked the start of a national training tour aimed at boosting local expertise in swine farming and animal health. The training forms part of Taiwan’s ongoing support for Eswatini’s agricultural development.
The session was delivered by a team from the Taiwan Technical Mission, including Project Manager Henry Jian, Specialist Benjamin Ma, and Assistant Specialists Hung Lin and Adam Chang.
Chang opened the session with a presentation on sow management, focusing on reproductive cycles and animal welfare. Lin followed with a session on swine diseases, offering insight into basic prevention techniques, especially around Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD).
To cap the training, participants took part in a quiz session, where winners received disinfectant bleach as prizes.
Organisers said the initiative is expected to reach farmers across the country and contribute to improved livestock practices in rural communities.
