Piggs Peak – The Swaziland Enterprise Development Company (SEDCO) launched the country’s first innovation hub on Thursday, bringing high-tech resources to local entrepreneurs in the Hhohho region.
Commerce Minister Manqoba Khumalo unveiled the E2.2 million facility, developed with support from ESCCOM and UNDP. The hub features a 20-computer lab, high-speed internet, printing services and an online business directory – all aimed at helping youth, women and persons with disabilities start digital businesses.
“This fulfills His Majesty’s vision to spread technology access across all regions,” said SEDCO CEO Khethiwe Mhlanga. The project aligns with the national MSME Policy’s sixth pillar on digital inclusion.
The iHub will serve as an incubation center for small businesses while providing students and remote workers with critical internet access. Government plans to replicate the model nationwide following the King’s directive to establish similar hubs in all constituencies.
“This is where ideas will grow into sustainable businesses,” Mhlanga added, thanking partners for backing the initiative to bridge Eswatini’s digital divide.
