MBABANE – A man who insulted his partner and further threatened to kill her, was arrested and charged under the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act, No. 15 of 2018 on Monday.
Albert Kababa Madolo, 29, of Ngwenya, was accused of verbally abusing and threatening his partner, Senamile Ndwandwe.
According to the charge sheet, this incident occurred on May 7 where Madolo offended the complainant by calling her offensive words which can not be repeated for ethical reasons as well as further threatening to kill her.
It was said that his actions caused harm or posed imminent harm to the safety, health, and wellbeing of the complainant, thus violating Section 77(1)(c) of the SODV Act.
When appearing at the Mbabane Magistrates Court before the Principal Magistrate, Fikile Nhlabatsi, on Monday, Madolo said that he did lash out on the complainant. He said this was after discovering that the child he believed was his might have a different biological father.
He informed the court that in order to confirm if he was the father of the minor, he will conduct a DNA test on June 15. Despite his explanation, the court found his actions to have been unlawful and harmful.
He was given a two-year custodial sentence with the option of a E5 000 fine.
