Bushfire 2025 kicks off with a bang in Malkerns
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Malkerns – The much-anticipated MTN Bushfire Festival roared to life this afternoon at House On Fire in Malkerns, with a sold-out crowd of over 23,000 festivalgoers streaming into the valley for what promises to be a weekend of cultural immersion, artistic expression and unforgettable music.

Gates opened early, but the official programme burst into action at 4pm with a powerful opening performance on the Main Stage — a fitting start to one of Africa’s most loved festivals. By early evening, the venue was a swirl of colourful outfits, rhythmic dance, and the pulsing sounds of diverse musical genres.

Opening night performances include legendary kwaito pioneers Boom Shaka from South Africa, who were among the first to take the stage, sending waves of nostalgia and energy through the crowd. They were followed by Swazi-South African artist Zee Nxumalo and SA rap heavyweight K.O., who are both expected to light up the evening with crowd-favourite hits.

Eswatini’s own are well represented in the programme. Tribal Natives brought the beat early in the afternoon, while Speech Umlangeni’s spoken word captivated a smaller crowd at the Bring Your Fire Stage. More performances from local stars like Khole, DJ Expo, and Statique & The Enigmas are expected to carry through the night.
