MBABANE – At least three hotels in Eswatini are reporting being fully booked, attributing it to the upcoming annual MTN Bushfire festival.
Hilton Garden Inn Mbabane, Happy Valley Hotel and Bethel Court in Ezulwini told Independent News that bookings were made prior with some as early as January for the event.
The 18th MTN Bushfire festival which has triggered an unprecedented surge in hotel bookings across the country is held at Malkerns from May 30 to June 1.
The Hilton Garden Inn Commercial Manager, Langelihle Gwebu, also confirmed that they were also fully booked. “We are fully booked and some bookings were made last year,” Gwebu said.
The Happy Valley Marketing and Communications Officer, Zakwethu Vilane, said that bookings opened as soon as the official dates were announced and due to high attendance for the fest, they had positive response.
“We can confirm that Happy Valley Hotel is fully booked for this year’s MTN Bushfire,” Vilane said.
Meanwhile, the Bethel Court Front Desk Officer, Jasmine Matata, shared similar sentiments. The MTN Bushfire Festival continues to serve as a vital boost to Eswatini’s economy and tourism industry, drawing visitors from across the world. The attraction site itself, the House on Fire Campsite, was also reported to have reached its full capacity. This was confirmed by Bushfire Communication Manager, Phiwokuhle Dhlamini.
“It’s the Bushfire Festival weekend, and it has become the norm that around this time, just before the festival, we are fully booked,” she said. Dhlamini said preparations were going well and they were happy with progress.
