JERICHO – National Commissioner of Police, Mr. Manoma Vusie Masango, has called on residents of Jericho and nearby communities to take urgent steps to strengthen child safety following the recent abduction of an 8-year-old girl.
The child went missing on May 21 after being snatched by an unidentified man while walking with other children. Speaking to a combined search party of officers and concerned locals at Siguduma, the Police Commissioner urged parents, community police and residents to pinpoint danger zones where children may be vulnerable and organise escorts to ensure their safety during daily routines.

Masango acknowledged the efforts made by residents who have joined the search operation and assured them that police investigations are actively underway. He added that South African Police Services (SAPS) have also been alerted and are working in coordination on the case.
During his visit, the Commissioner stopped by the home of the missing child to offer support to the family and reinforce the police’s commitment to finding the girl.
He warned against any attempt by individuals or groups to exploit the child’s disappearance for personal or political agendas, cautioning that such actions would not be tolerated.
