Ezulwini- In a significant move to support local businesses navigating the complexities of tax compliance, the Eswatini Revenue Services (ERS) has announced an extension for the submission of Income Tax Returns for VAT-registered entities.
Originally set for October 31, 2024, the new deadline of December 16, 2024, offers a much-needed reprieve for businesses striving to meet the fiscal responsibilities amidst challenging economic conditions. This initiative provides businesses with valuable extra time to ensure their submissions are accurate and complete.
Brightwell Nkambule, the Commissioner General highlighted ERS’s dedication to facilitating compliance among businesses.
“This extension reflects our commitment to supporting businesses in their tax compliance journey,” he stated. This move comes as a response to the ongoing challenges many businesses face, allowing them to focus on their operations while ensuring they meet their tax obligations.
In light of this extension, the ERS encourages all VAT-registered businesses to take full advantage of the additional time to avoid potential penalties.
However, it is important for businesses to note those who have received a VAT de-registration notice must still adhere to the original deadline of October 31, 2024.
Furthermore, ERS emphasizes that businesses that are VAT de-registered or unregistered are reminded that they are prohibited by law from charging VAT.
As the deadline approaches, the ERS urges all affected businesses to prioritize their tax submissions and ensure compliance, paving the way for a smoother financial year ahead.
