Mbabane: Swazi Spa employees who have been demanding the General Manager (GM) Lance Rossouw to pay them their terminal benefits have managed to be victorious as they will be paid 31 percent of their basic salary.

Speaking to the Times of Eswatini, the Chairperson of the Swaziland Hotel and Catering Allied Workers Union (SHCAWU) Bheki Dlamini said this came as an outcome of a meeting they had with the Area GM on Wednesday.

Dlamini said the union initially planned to deliver a petition to their employer but then the employer called them in a private meeting.

The union member was seeking for Rossouw to address their grievances including an assurance on the 31 percent total cost of employment (TCOE) and for how long they will be getting the salary relief. Dlamini said as employees they have accumulated huge debts caused by continuous lay-offs.

The employees were also demanding their annual bonus and frequent business updates.

Dlamini said during the meeting the General Manager responded positively to some of their concerns and further promised them to respond to the rest of their concerns by the end of the week. Dlamini said Rossouw directly promised them the 21 per cent of their basic salary at the end of the month.
