Mbabane- Bishop Dr Vusumuzi Makuluve has apologised to the nation following the collapse of his third marriage, admitting that he is not proud of another marital breakdown as he confirmed the end of his relationship with Nolwazi Shongwe.
“I am not proud about this, angitichenyi ngako,” Makuluve said during a live broadcast on his official Facebook page, MV Makuluve, on October 27, 2026.
It lasted eight minutes and 14 seconds, shorter than the 30 minutes he had initially promised.
Titled “Gandaganda Utikhokha Yena Eludzakeni”, the broadcast drew on Job 22:29, a biblical passage about finding hope and being lifted up after difficult circumstances.
“When men are cast down, then you shall say, There is lifting up: And he shall save the humble person,” reads the passage.
The leader of God Cares Christian Fellowship said he would turn to prayer, compose himself and focus on taking care of his children following the end of his latest marriage.
“I will pray and take care of my children,” he said.
Asked whether he would consider marrying again, Makuluve said he would continue to pray to God, leaving his future marital plans open.
His remarks came after the breakdown of his third marriage, following the collapse of his previous unions with Nomvumelwano Lukhele and Lindelwa Nombulelo Shongwe, popularly known as Make Bishop LaShongwe.
Three marriages, three breakdowns
Makuluve’s marital history has attracted public attention over the years, with his latest separation adding to two previous marital breakdowns.
His first marriage was to Nomvumelwano Lukhele. The union ended in divorce at the Manzini Magistrates Court in 2020, according to the background information provided.
In January 2020, Makuluve entered a traditional marriage with Lindelwa Nombulelo Shongwe, known publicly as Make Bishop LaShongwe. Their union involved customary marriage proceedings, including the payment of 14 live cattle.
The marriage lasted approximately four years before its breakdown was announced in May 2025.
Reports surrounding that separation cited communication difficulties and prolonged periods of absence as among the challenges affecting the relationship.
Later in 2025, Makuluve became engaged to Nolwazi Shongwe, also known as Tekhaya Shongwe. The couple reportedly married around November that year.
However, by October 2026, the relationship had also ended, with Makuluve publicly confirming the separation during his Facebook broadcast.
The formal legal status of the latest separation has not been independently established.
Nolwazi Shongwe separation attracts attention
The end of Makuluve’s marriage to Nolwazi Shongwe had already attracted attention on social media, where reports of disagreements between the couple circulated.
The Bishop had previously confirmed to media that he had returned Shongwe’s belongings to her family home at Mathangeni.
Accounts circulating about the separation allege that a disagreement began when Shongwe received a telephone call from her family informing her that an urgent meeting had been convened and that she was expected to attend.
According to these accounts, Shongwe informed her husband that she needed to leave, but Makuluve initially expressed discomfort with her departure. Although he later indicated that she could go, another disagreement reportedly followed as she prepared to leave.
The disagreement allegedly escalated, and Shongwe eventually left the home. Makuluve was subsequently reported to have packed her belongings and taken them to her family homestead.
These details have not been independently verified.
In an account attributed to Shongwe, she reportedly said she had reached a point where she no longer wanted to continue with the relationship, alleging that several problems had affected their marriage.
She was also quoted as saying that she had felt pressured to participate in an earlier interview about their relationship and that the couple had already been experiencing disagreements.
The circumstances surrounding the separation remain unclear, and the accounts have not been independently established. Makuluve’s response to the specific allegations would be necessary for a fuller account of the events leading to the separation.h3 before another marriage
Despite the end of his third marriage, Makuluve did not announce plans to marry again.
Instead, he said prayer and caring for his children would take priority as he worked through the latest breakdown.
His statement acknowledged the personal significance of experiencing three marital breakdowns, while his apology addressed the nation that had followed developments surrounding his relationships.
The Bishop indicated that he could return to the public with further announcements if the need arose.
For now, he says his focus is on prayer, rebuilding himself and taking care of his children.
