Mbabane: Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini says Kellogg Tolaram and Triomf Fertilizer companies, will not only bring massive employment opportunities but will also change the architectural landscape of the country – through the construction of world class factory shells in line with His Majesty’s Vision 2022.

Dlamini said this after concluding his tour of Triomf Fertilizer & Kellogg’s Tolaram base structures in Matsapha.

Dlamini said the two companies are part of Government’s wider investor attraction program and are investing a combined sum of over E200 million in Eswatini, set to create an initial 300 jobs.

The Kellogg Tolaram project is another government-driven initiative, which will be operated by one of the world’s leading multinational fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies.

Kellogg Tolaram is a joint venture between Kelloggs, originating from the United States of America and Tolaram whose headquarters are based in Singapore. The project is a flagship project for the Kingdom; which will be adding into our production basket of “Made in Eswatini” products.

Specifically, the project will produce instant noodles ready for consumption for both the local and export regional markets. Eswatini will be joining global producers of noodles as part of the global concerted effort to alleviate hunger; in line with Sustainable Development Goal 2; which aims to end hunger by the year 2030.

The structure that is being constructed will accommodate two lines of noodle manufacturing plants which will yield approximately 258 jobs. PM said Kellogg Tolaram have plans to add more lines in the near future; which will proportionately increase employment opportunities for Emaswati. Over and above that, we have reserved additional land for future expansion into other product lines for cereals; which the Kellogg brand is synonymous with.

The Prime Minister added that various local companies at different levels will benefit from the implementation of this project through backward and forward linkages by way of supply and distribution services respectively. Indications are that the spin-offs arising from this project might even be higher than the direct jobs created.

“On behalf of His Majesty’s Government, I would like to take this time to thank Kellogg Tolaram for choosing Eswatini as the ideal investment destination for their production plant,” said Dlamini.

He added that the project will propel the country towards achieving the recently launched Post-Covid-19 Economic Recovery Plan; which seeks to carve a clear path towards a private sector-led economic growth and subsequent development.

PM went on to reassure Kellog Tolram of government’s support for this project and for the next phases of development. Government stands ready to provide all the necessary support for further investments and expansion plans.

Dalmini further invited Kellogg Tolaram to explore the use of the recently launched Eswatini Trade Information Portal; which seeks to make it easier for importers and exporters to trade.
