MBABANE: Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with representatives of the United Republic of Tanzania to strengthen cooperation in the adoption and implementation of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
The agreement establishes a framework for technical cooperation between Eswatini and Tanzania as the Kingdom advances its IPSAS implementation programme.
The cooperation will include a structured assessment of gaps in Eswatini’s existing accounting and financial reporting systems. It will also cover capacity building, training and technical assistance to support the implementation process.
The Ministry of Finance said the partnership forms part of government’s broader efforts to modernise public sector financial reporting and strengthen fiscal accountability.
The adoption of IPSAS is expected to improve consistency and transparency in the reporting of public finances, while supporting stronger financial management and governance.
The reforms are also intended to strengthen public confidence in the management and reporting of government resources.
